Article 1: Objectives


The objectives of the European Federation for Catalysis (EFCATS) shall be:

  1. To promote scientific and technical progress both in the fundamental understanding and in the application of catalysis in all its manifestations;
  2. To foster public awareness of the importance of catalysis and to initiate educational activities;
  3. To represent the views of the membership and the scientific community at large concerning research priorities to funding agencies, the European Community and national governments;
  4. To act as a centre of information on catalysis, and to coordinate and publicise the activities of national catalysis societies and of inter-governmental organisations, through the distribution of a Newsletter;
  5. To organise a biennial European Congress on Catalysis, to be known as EUROPACAT;
  6. To act as a vehicle for exchange of information and views on catalysis and science policy;
  7. To arrange such other meetings and to approve such other activities as shall advance the above objectives;
