It will be necessary from time to time to set up Working Groups and Sub-Committees to carry out detailed investigations into matters of interest or concern to the Federation, or to perform specific functions. Such Groups or Sub-Committees might for example investigate the standardisation of methods for preparing, characterising or testing catalysts, or might consider means for increasing public awareness of the value of catalytic science. Whenever the Council perceives the need for such a body to be established, it shall designate a Chairman to convene and oversee its work, but shall leave the Chairman free to select members to serve on it. The Chairman, who shall report annually to the Council on the work of the Group, shall be appointed for a period of two years, after which he/she may be reappointed for at most one further two-year term. The Council shall determine when the work of each Group or Sub-Committee has finished or should be terminated.
